Installing the Updated motherboard audio drivers. Installing the factory original motherboard audio drivers. (Before I figured out it was an audio issue.) Then I had this bright idea, hey, let's get the GOTY edition via steam, and bam, it freezes every time. Originally when I put together the computer I slapped my old hard drive in, and ran the game directly off the drive without problems. I can't figure out if it's a driver issue (Possible) A codec issue (Possible.) or something else. So, quite obviously there is now a sound problem with my computer. Crazier yet, when I go to the control panel, and disable my sound devices, the game runs perfectly fine, but you know, without sound. I mean, seriously, I don't even get the loading bar to show up. When I load (Load a saved game) or start a new game (After I press Yes), the game freezes immediately, with absolutely no hope of recovery or error message. Music plays in background perfectly, clicking on buttons makes proper sounds, etc. Oblivion loads up just fine, up to the point where I get to the main menu and select either Load, or new game.
